The VP Internal of IDSSA is also responsible for coordinating with the First Year Representative for IDSSA. The first year representative must be either a U0 or U1 student intending on studying IDS at McGill. Students do not need to be declared IDS honors, majors, minors, etc. to qualify for the position.
Responsibilities of the first year representative include:
- Chairing the First Year Council for IDS
- Organizing events for first year IDS students
- Representing the interests of first year IDS students in the IDSSA
- The position is also a good opportunity for first-year students to get acquainted with the IDS community early in their academic career
